Privacy policy
LK Legal ("we", "us") is a law firm. This policy explains how we handle personal information.
What we collect
- Enquiries: when you contact us through our website, by email or by phone, we collect the details you give us. This usually includes your name, organisation, contact details, a description of your matter and the names of other people involved.
- Client work: when we act for a client, we collect the information needed for the matter. This includes records the client gives us, which may contain information about other people.
- Website security: our website uses a security check to block spam, which processes your internet address and browser information. We record your browser type with any enquiry you send.
How we use it
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, check for conflicts of interest, provide legal services, and run our practice. We don't sell it.
We keep client information confidential in line with our professional obligations. That duty applies in addition to this policy.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to host our website, store enquiries and send email. Our providers include Cloudflare, Resend and Microsoft. Some of them store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it's needed for a client's matter (for example, to a court or to other parties).
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We delete or de-identify it when we no longer need it.
Access and correction
You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you by contacting us. We may refuse access where the law allows, for example where information is protected by legal professional privilege or a duty of confidence.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, contact us first and we'll look into it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
